the Farm

Arbutus Meadows Farm is located on Vancouver Island in beautiful Nanoose Bay. Tucked away amidst beautiful fields and forest, it is a beautiful piece of land that is a peaceful get away from everyday busyness, offering a lovely place to visit with the farm animals, shop our lavender products, picnic and more. An original stagecoach barn from 1886 still stands today where carriages and horses would be stabled over night before their long journey to the north island. The farm remains a sanctuary for happy animals to dwell. Scottish Highland Cattle, Olde English Southdown Babydoll Sheep and a few beloved trail horses graze the open pastures. Piglets roam the protective forests and a variety of chickens, ducks, turkeys and peacocks can be seen free ranging the property. The mediterranean climate has lent itself well to sustaining beautiful Arbutus trees as well as an abundance of fragrant lavender. Equestrian events have been a staple to the property, hosting a variety of clubs and horse enthusiasts through the years as well as numerous other community and sporting events. As our farm continues to grow, we hope to support the community around us and offer a get away from the ordinary.

About us

Samantha & Rob Bau

Rob, Samantha and their two daughters came to Vancouver Island in 2002 to help with the family farm. They learned so much in those first years and fell in love with the land.

Rob can be seen caring for his animals and maintaining the property while Samantha works full time creating products from their beautiful lavender.

The Lavender

Our signature lavender variety is an English lavender called “Big Time Blue”. A gorgeous low growing lavender that comes into bloom earlier than others. Every June, you can expect to see and smell armloads of heady scented, deep purple blossoms growing in rows on the farm. Fragrant and vibrant flowers dry excellently and hold their colour and aromas for a long time. We sell dried bouquets and use the flower buds in all our bath and kitchen products.
